To boost sales in an overly competitive environment, many top brands have turned to new, inventive, and unconventional ways. They have embraced the use of Artificial Intelligence as a marketing strategy to create sales content, interact with customers, and for cybersecurity reasons. Sephora, for example, uses their Kik Messenger chatbot to communicate with clientele, and give them suggestions about upcoming Sephora offers based on the client’s preference. The popularity of AI in retail is steadily growing, with 60% of ecommerce brands expected to implement the use of AI before 2018 ends.

AI’s appeals lie in its efficiency to market like or even better than humans, and the ability to help companies cut costs. For example, Facebook uses AI for face verification during login which has a high accuracy level of 97%.

Meanwhile, YouTube actually increased its average watch time by 50% by tuning its video recommendations using AI. FareCompare increased its revenue by 13% when it adopted the use of marketing cloud Einstein AI to send personalized flight and hotel recommendations to clients.

The advantages of AI are quite many that it’s understandable why brands are so taken up by them. With the growth of fake news in the media, Facebook’s use of AI to detect it before it goes viral is quite timely.

As much as AI is good for businesses, people have got to be worried about their own dimming influence/significance in the business world. According to Gartner, 85% of customer service will be done by AI by 2020. How true that will be, we can only wait and see.

To find out more about which brands are using AI, read the infographic below that details how the companies are using AI and their benefits from using it.
